New Year’s Day, 2009 Japan
Most of the mountains are covered in thick bamboo forests like the one behind the house in this photograph. We hiked up a service track following a single, barely overhead power line until we came to a clearing near the top, watched the snow storms roll in and enjoyed the silence.
